An easy but quite committing via ferrata. We traversed over to Ospitale and then got the bus back to the starting point.

The Heading up in the gondola aka yogurt pot Getting closer to Forcella Staunies Looking back down, still enough snow for a reasonable slide Not quite at the top yet, the slow lift takes about 25 minutes but saves you a lot of uphill Crow at the Forcella Staunies Looking back down At Forcella Staunies, very few people today, the forecast probably explains this... Crow again One of the interesting yogurt pots Start of the via ferrata Looking along the start of the route. There's still a fair bit of snow. Extra ropes have been added for the tricky bit and other bits are avoidable or straightforward Into the murk... again Fiona on the cable. At nearly 3000m it's pretty cold up here in the mist Looking down the snow a long way below Mike heading into a short tunnel The yogurt pots from the route The bridge that stars in the film Cliffhanger Onwards and upwards Hmmm, lots of clouds bubbling up, we're starting to get a bit paranoid about the forecast now! One of the many snowy sections More clouds building From this point much of the route has no cable or minimal cabling so it's mostly a walk. Some of the old WW1 buildings built into the rock faces These clouds are starting to worry us as they keep getting darker as the morning goes on The harder sections have wooden bridges At Forcella Bassa Make sure you go the right way! We headed down to Ospitale to do a full traverse. Although mostly downhill it's a long long walk with lots of undulations. You need to be careful with the route finding. Massive slabs, no idea if there are any climbs here but they looked brilliant Fiona on a ladder, no more photos as 30 minutes after this the heavens opened and we got a dousing. The big storms kicked off just as we got to the bus stop so we were pretty lucky. Up high it wouldn't have been much fun.
