Two via ferrata in a single day

View from the walk in with Tofana in the distance
Looking to the hills behind us Col Rosa 2166m. VF Ettore Bovero goes up and over this mountain. On VF Michelli Strobel now, it's a mixture of cabled sections with linking paths
Mike climbing Mike Fiona heading on up At the top of the route now with massive rock walls behind us
View from the top To reach the descent route just follow the cairns until you reach one of the many signposts
Cinque Torri in the distance Approaching the descent col. The continuation along the ridge looked like fun but a rope may well be required. Descent path, it's quite good to begin with but quickly deteriorates into a mobile scree slope Having slithered to the base of the scree it's now back up for VF Terza Cengia. This is a shorter ferrata but technically harder as it has uncabled sections where scrambling is necessary Heading for the start of the cable On the cable now The exposed slab which has no cable. The folks ahead tried to go up the chossy gully on the left side, this is loose, unpleasant and likely to send rocks down on the folks below. The slab is exposed but the climbng is actually okay
The high point of the route. The feratta ends at the col just below but another 5 mins gets you to the top and a great view of the mountains Fiona on the summit View along the ridge from the high point. Again this looked like fun but would need a rope. The descent path. The descent goes over slabby polished limestone and mud which would be very unpleasant in the wet. Joining up with the more common walking routes, rather a lot of people ahead! Looking back along the route we've taken
