Ben Alder backpack - July 2013
Fiona's trip from Dalwhinnie to Corrour

Walking towards Ben Alder Lodge. Various cyclists overtook me. I wonder which way the wind blows... Ben Alder Lodge main entrance - like something out of a fairy tale. Looking towards Culra, my intended hills are to the left of the pass. Walking along the raised path to Culra. Beinn Bheoil and Ben Alder (left) and Carn Dearg (right). Beinn Bheoil and Ben Alder Cross leaved heath Culra Bothy with Beinn Bheoil and Ben Alder and Carn Dearg behind Culra Bothy with Beinn Bheoil and Ben Alder behind. Lunch in the bothy due to the clegs making any stops problematic. Carn Dearg - currently on the revenge list after a very soggy experience many years back. Cloudberry View back down loch Ericht towards Dalwhinnie Approaching the summit of Beinn Bheoil, looking back towards Culra. Beinn Bheoil Summit views Ben Alder Summit views Ben Alder Looking down to the bealach between Beinn Bheoil and Ben Alder Plane wreckage at just by the bealach Campsite was just down from the path by the river. I picked a spot that was raised up a bit due to the forecast torrential rain. Mmmmm, boggy.... after 12 hours of torrential rain the path back to Loch Ossian was a little damp... Big rivers... pissing rain. Rain, rain and more rain. The original plan to walk over the 4 northerly Munros got binned in favour of a walk out to Corrour for the early train. It rained pretty much the whole way and the midge took Some weird dropping spotted on the path - no idea what made this! A welcome sight but sadly it doesn't open till noon on a Sunday so an hour long wait in a midge net was required.
