No5 Gully - Ben Nevis - December 2008

View back to the temperature inversion in the glen. Walking in, pretty awe inspiring sight to wake you up in the morning! Tower ridge in the back ground No5 dead ahead. Looking back to the temperature inversion in the glen. Starting off up the gully, note avalanche runoff!

Wearing harnesses as we were going to do something else. About 1/3 of the way up. Ewan posing for a photo. Carn Mor Dearg Nearly at the top. Cornice is nicely lit up by the sun. About to exit. Carn Mor Dearg again. The steep final section and the end. Fiona happy after her 1st route on the ben. Carn Mor Dearg again. Aonach Mor in the background. Wandering round to visit the summit. Looking back to Carn Dearg Looking down one of the more adventurous gullys. Carn Dearg again. Ben Nevis summit plateau Looking towards the mamores. Carn Dearg Aonach Beag Another view of the mamores. All the glens buried deep in a temperature inversion. Descending now. Approaching the half way lochan Still descending. Glimpses of a frozen Glen Nevis appearing. Glen Nevis Getting closer to the murk Final stretch on the path And walk back in the frost.
