Cuillin Ridge Traverse - May 2017
Possibly the best day out in the hills to date

The ridge from Glenbrittle first thing. Some summits poking out of the mist. We thought it would soon clear, but.... Walking in Mike on the summit of Gars-Bheinn Fiona on the summit of Gars-Bheinn - we left here at 7:20am TD Gap, dripping wet and unclimbable Abseiling into the TD gap. I twisted my ankle dodging the rocks Mike launched down the gully as we descended and then continued over 9 Munros with it getting progressively more painful... Sgurr Alasdair - hard to find in the mist - about 11am now Descending Sgurr Thearlich and the clouds finally start to clear a bit Kings Chimney - probably a lot more pleasant when dry! Mike seconding Kings Chimney An Stac and the In Pinn An Stac The In Pinn Fiona ascending the In Pinn Brocken Spectre from the In Pinn - one of the most vivid I've ever seen in the mountains Looking back along the ridge from the In Pinn with An Stac in the foreground and bits of Sgurr Mhic Coinnich behind In Pinn - now 13:14 and starting to move quite fast Sgurr na Bannadich Heading for Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh Heading for Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh Looking along the ridge - the finish is a long way off! 15:00 and the finish is a long long way away.... Descending from Sgurr a' Mhadaidh towards its first top The arrow pointing you up the first top on Mhadaiadh We went over all the lumps between Sgurr a' Mhadaidh and Bruach na Frithe... Still a long way to Sgurr na Gillean but it is getting closer now... A basalt dyke/chimney on Bidein Druim nan Ramh Weird coils the rope made after the final abseil before Bruach na Frithe The finish is definitely getting a bit closer now Looking back at where we've been Looking backat where we've been - the little bump on the left is Gars-Bheinn which we left a long long time ago Mike feeling the heat Sgurr na Gillean getting ever closer... Heading for Bruach na Frithe Looking back to where we've been. I think Gars-Bheinn is the bump at the left hand side in the distance. It's now over 11 hours since we left its summit. Summit of Bruach na Frithe Sgurr na Gillean from the summit of Bruach na Frithe - I guess we realised we'd finish it by this point Sgurr a' Fionn Choire - the Munro top we missed out last year by mistake so had to add on to the traverse Sgurr na Gillean getting ever closer Mike at the top of Naismith's Route Looking back along the ridge Sgurr na Gillean from Am Basteir, 20:10 Mike on the summit of Sgurr na Gillean Glamaig and others Fiona on the summit of Sgurr na Gillean at 20:45 Gars-Bheinn a long long way away now Shadow of Sgurr na Gillean Shadow of Sgurr na Gillean Shadow of Sgurr na Gillean Abseiling down Nicholson's Chimney - we actually did this twice as a frazzled Mike left his jacket at the top by mistake. Glamaig - our last Corbett in 2013 Looking back up Coire am Bhasteir towards Pinnacle Ridge Pinnacle Ridge from the walk out Pinnacle Ridge It's still a long walk out to the Sligachan
